Rest: The Secret Ingredient to Success
Do you often get swept up in the grind – chasing deadlines, jumping from one meeting to the next, always thinking about the next task, even at weekends?
When that happens, it’s so easy to forget to stop.
Today I did just that. I drove down to Shoreham Beach with my wife, parked up, and we walked along the seafront together, picking up a coffee along the way.
We breathed in the salty air, listened to the waves crashing, felt the wind on our faces, and for a whole hour and a half, we simply switched off.
For the first time this week, we weren’t thinking about the business, our jobs, or the week ahead. We were just being ourselves.
Afterwards, we both felt more relaxed – and it felt great.
→ Success isn’t only about effort, strategy, or resilience.
→ It’s also about knowing when to step back and recharge.
→ When we rest, we come back different.
We come back:
→ Lighter
→ Sharper
→ More creative
So here’s what I’ve been wondering – when you really need to reset:
→ Do you give yourself permission to pause?
→ Where do you go?
→ What do you do?
Maybe the real secret to progress isn’t just working harder – but also knowing when to rest, when to recharge.
